Holistic Victim Restitution Plan Reflection
This week’s required readings discuss the situations that make
it more likely for children and the elderly to become victims of crime and how vulnerabilities
as a result of age or ability level contribute to victimization. Reflect on
your preparations for your Holistic Victim Restitution Plan that is due in Week
Six. Choose at least one area of your research that either made you change a
pre-existing position you held about the state of victimology research, or
share something that surprised you in the course of your research. To help
guide your reflection, consider how your perspective has changed on the
following topics: the effectiveness of the criminal justice system in
addressing victimology, your understanding of victimology theories, landmark
victimology federal court decisions, victimology issues, creation of a socially
just society, and potential career opportunities.
In your Holistic Victim Restitution Plan Reflection, you must
reflect on whether your viewpoints have changed and how you expect to use this
new perspective in your current or future career going forward. At a minimum
·
·
Analyze the rise of victimology.
·
Evaluate empirical data regarding crime victims.
·
Explain the victim’s contribution to crime.
·
Critique the criminal justice system’s response to
victimization.
·
Describe your suggestions for a holistic plan of victim
restitution.
